Pasifiki HR announced the launch of its new, Australian Government funded database of jobseekers living with disabilities who are available for employment on 6 August 2021.

The event included a sign language interpreter to promote audience inclusivity.

The database aims to improve the connection between people living with a disability who are available to work and employers seeking new employees. The jobseeker database also satisfies a request made by business leaders in December 2019, to improve employers’ access to jobseekers living with a disability.

The business leaders’ request was made at a Solomon Islands Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SICCI) event, hosted by the Australian Government initiative, Strongim Bisnis. Strongim Bisnis acted upon the request by partnering with Pasifiki HR, to support the creation and ongoing management of the new database for jobseekers living with disabilities.

Australian High Commission First Secretary for Economic Growth, Louisa Macdonald Hall, said “the Australian Government is proud to support this partnership because we know that inclusive workplaces lead to stronger economies. Pasifiki HR’s new jobseeker database for people living with disabilities will not only improve the access of valuable community members to employment and economic opportunities, it will also allow everyone to reap the benefits of increased diversity in colleagues and employees.”

Strongim Bisnis, Business Partnerships Director, Tim Lawther, highlighted the benefits for business of employing People Living With Disability and workplace inclusivity.

The launch was held at Heritage Park Hotel on 6 August 2021, during a “Business After Five” evening organised by SICCI. Pasifiki HR People Manager, Alphea H. Tufah, spoke at the launch. Ms Tufah said, “a 2018 study by Accenture showed that up to 59 per cent of alterations needed to accommodate an employee with a disability cost absolutely nothing, but the benefits of hiring people living with disabilities are significant.”

Ms Tufah added, “people living with disabilities can increase productivity and innovation in their workplace, as well as enhance a business’ reputation. We encourage all employers in Solomon Islands to gain these benefits and employ people living with disabilities by using Pasifiki HR’s new database.”

The people living with disabilities jobseeker database can be accessed by visiting Pasifiki HR’s office in Lengakiki, West Honiara or by calling 20453. Pasifiki HR is Solomon Islands’ only employment agency offering recruitment services for employers and training for jobseekers.

Strongim Bisnis partnered with Pasifiki HR as part of its focus on creating better economic opportunities for women, youth and people living with disabilities in the program’s work in the cocoa, coconut, tourism, financial services, timber, horticulture and waste management sectors.
