Strongim Bisnis has developed a cook book focused on Solomon Islands cocoa.
The cook book aims to lift domestic consumption of Solomon Islands cocoa and is called “Cooking with Cocoa in the Solomon Islands”. The cookbook gives recipes showing how to add value to local cocoa beans by processing them, at home, into products that may be eaten or sold. These value-added products include Roasted Cocoa Beans, Cocoa Husks for drinking as a tea, Cocoa Nibs (crushed cocoa beans) and Untempered Chocolate.
The cook book was given out during cooking demonstrations and value-added cocoa training run by Strongim Bisnis during October 2019. Training and demonstrations were held in various locations for women, people living with disability, tourism operators and students of Rural Training Centres throughout Guadalcanal and Central Provinces. A demonstration was also held for the general public at the Honiara Central Markets.

Australian High Commission Second Secretary for Economics, Cass Grant, said “We are pleased to support this cook book, which showcases how the Solomon Islands cocoa bean may be processed into different value-added products”.
