The Western Province Adventure Trail and other potential tourism hubs will be developed through workshops supported by the Australian Government initiative Strongim Bisnis. The workshops held in Honiara and Gizo will, for the first time, introduce the St Gallen model for Destination Management into the Pacific. This new and innovative model aims to link tourism attractions and facilitate a traveller’s flow through a destination.
A major milestone was achieved today in welcoming a formal partnership agreement between Tourism Solomons and Strongim Bisnis, an Australian Aid private sector development initiative. The partnership will work to increase awareness of Solomon Islands as a destination to holidaymakers in key markets such as Australia and New Zealand.
The West AreÁre Rokotanikeni Association (WARA), a leading women’s organisation, is working with Australian Aid project Strongim Bisnis to help grow rural women’s businesses and incomes. The partnership will provide women with financial management training and expand WARA’s loan facility for women’s businesses and long-term investments. The loans will be guaranteed by member savings.
