• Strongim Bisnis in Solomon Islands

our Coconut program

Strongim Bisnis’ coconut program aims to improve access to information, coconut product diversification, access to finance, business and financial literacy, industry coordination, good agricultural practices, and potentially biosecurity and transportation. We aim to support the growth of the coconut industry through marketing and diversification of the product range of existing producers, bringing sustainability and resilience to businesses.

Our goal is to ensure coconut growers earn a sustainable income from coconut production and understand the importance of replanting for the future, and have access to the information and support they need to do so. We are looking for more job opportunities, particularly for women and youth to be created particularly in value addition through processing.

  • Improve the information that is available on coconut products for export and for supply in the domestic market.

Support diversification in coconut products for export and domestic market (value-added processing).

Improve business training and support services.

Increase coordination regarding the certificates required to get access to overseas markets.

Reduce the prominence of bulk copra sales and promote better value uses for it.

Support efforts to contain the devasting Coconut Rhinoceros Beetle.

Improve access to finance for micro and SMEs.

Promote more positive gender roles to empower women and reduce the risk of gender-based violence.

Improve domestic transportation and logistics services.

  • Strongim Bisnis is working with Biosecurity Solomon Islands (BSI) from the MAL to support coconut rhinoceros beetle containment efforts through a behaviour change communication campaign.

Kokonut Pacific Solomon Islands (KPSI) will partner with Strongim Bisnis to expand its market regionally and internationally.

Strongim Bisnis has completed a feasibility study on value-added processing coconut products in the domestic market and plans to develop partnerships and activities to act on this information.

We seek to build the capacity of business training providers to support local processing units to coordinate around organic certification, and develop and market new microfinance products for local processing units.

We will increase access to finance support to PFH.

Strongim Bisnis will provide business mentorship support to Kamaimai, a coconut syrup value-added process.

Support to businesses in implementing Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point recommendation.
